Job Description:

Geolytix is seeking a skilled SQL Query Analyst specialising in spatial data to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital role in analysing spatial data and extracting actionable insights for our clients in the retail, property, and location planning sectors. You will collaborate with our consulting and technical teams to deliver high-quality spatial solutions that drive strategic decision-making and business growth.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute SQL queries to extract, transform, and load (ETL) spatial data from various sources, including databases, APIs, and flat files.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand client requirements and translate them into effective spatial data solutions.
  • Perform data validation, cleansing, and preprocessing to ensure accuracy and reliability of spatial datasets.
  • Design and implement spatial data queries to support analytical and reporting needs through our online mapping solution, Geolytix MAPP.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in spatial data analysis, SQL optimization, and geographic information systems (GIS) technologies.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience (2+ years) in writing and executing SQL queries, with a focus on spatial data manipulation and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of spatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial, Oracle Spatial) and GIS concepts.
  • Experience working with retail, property, or location planning datasets and familiarity with related analytical techniques.
  • Proficiency in spatial analysis tools and libraries (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, GDAL/OGR).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or R for data preprocessing and automation is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a passion for delivering high-quality spatial insights.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
